Pride Parade

That surreal moment where you’re marching in a Pride parade for the first time, you’re one of two people holding the Pride Center sign, and the second person is your therapist, who you’ve been seeing about your transition for almost a year and has been such a tremendous, supportive help in that process.

In addition, anyone who knows me is aware that I have an aversion to the color pink. To me, it’s always represented femininity, something that I’ve always stayed clear of and refuse to emulate because that’s just not me. I have since gained a neutral attitude towards the color, but it’s still something I will not wear.

However, representation is important, even in the LGBTQ community, which is why I’m going to the Vermont Pride Parade today with the trans flag colors painted on my face. For those who are unaware, those colors are blue, pink, and white. Might be hard to see in these pictures, but I’m making a point today to stand out as who I am for all to see.
