“Real men eat meat!”
“Real men drive trucks!”
“Real men don’t cry!”
All my life I’ve heard phrases like these trying to warp men with toxic masculinity until they’re rocks that can’t be bothered to learn how to swim in the real world tide. It’s been great seeing that change, and now I hear phrases like these:
“Real men wear pink!”
“Real men wear kilts!”
“Real men can cook!”
But I hesitate at these words. Even with change, people are still trying to define what makes a person authentic. And so to all that, I say this:
“Real men aren’t afraid of their manhood breaking at the presence of a color, object, emotion, hobby, cloth, expression, or consumable item.”
Just be you, no matter what others say about your tastes and knowledge.
